Parallels公司推出了蘋果高端虛擬機軟件桌面版的新版本Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac。

該 軟件在Mac OS X環境下可直接運行Windows系統，除支持所有版本的Windows(3.11, 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, WIN 7)系統外，該軟件還將支持Linux，FreeBSD，OS/2，Solaris等操作系統，甚至古老的MS-DOS也在支持行列。 該公司聲稱，新版本將比Windows-on-Mac competitor要快22%。 

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac新增了70多種功能，使用更靈活。 用戶可以選擇想要顯示的windows數量，既可以全屏顯示windows，從而覆蓋Mac，也可以使用新的Crystal瀏覽模式，使windows完全消失。 用戶甚至還可以在windows的應用程序添加Mac的體驗，如使用直覺的Apple Trackpad Gestures技術（多觸點技術）來pinch（開合），swipe（輕掃）和rotate(旋轉手指)。 

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac可通過windows WDDM設備實現完全支持windows Vista和windows 7的Aero，包括Aero Flip 3D。 虛擬機大小將自動與Parallels Compressor優化到最佳運行狀態，另外還改善了Linux的運行效果。 

Autodesk 的AutoCAD產品管理負責人Andrew Mackles說，Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac具有出色的3D圖像效果，從而成為了Autodesk首選的Mac虛擬化軟件，專門提供給那些使用AutoCAD或我們其他的設計工程軟件或Mac 的顧客們。
